Matt founded Lyons Development in 2003 with the intention of bringing a boutique craft approach to high-end residential development. His process — collaborative, thoughtful and transparent — focuses on delivering his clients’ vision with acuity and artistry.

Matt’s collaborative spirit and passion for his craft began early. Growing up on his family’s 100-year-old cattle ranch in Central California, he learned the value of taking pride in his work as he helped manage the day-to-day operations of the ranch and assisted with his family’s development of shopping centers, industrial parks and commercial buildings. His family legacy continues to shape who he is today. It led him to pursue a bachelor of science degree at California Polytechnic University-San Luis Obispo and, eventually, to establish his namesake firm so he could nurture his talent for driving challenging projects from inception to completion.

Today, Lyons Development has grown into one of Southern California’s most in-demand builders, frequently sought after by leading thinkers and visionaries who aspire to follow their life’s passions. Matt continues to grow his team, welcoming specialists who share in the drive to create truly masterful buildings. Cultivating a progressive vision for the future of residential design and development, the Lyons team pushes their limits with each project, delivering better building practices by embracing change and improvisation. Staying true to his family’s roots in land conservation, he integrates green building practices and conservation tactics into development projects from the ground level. And, with years of experience to share, he consults with investors and homeowners throughout Southern California on development ventures and real estate opportunities. The results “live” in the timeless residences he builds for his clients.

Matt’s pride extends from his business to his family. He resides in Los Angeles, where he lives with his two daughters, Leah & Liv.
